Below you will find resources to help support you and your pet, while you’re managing cancer.

  • The CancerCare Pet Assistance and Wellness Program (PAW): This program offers education, resource navigation, counseling, and support groups. Limited financial assistance to offset costs, such as pet food, pet walking/sitting, boarding fees and veterinary expenses is also available to people in active cancer treatment.
  • Companions 4 Life Fund: This fund assists people with cancer and their pets and provides pet food and supplies, as well as cat and dog care baskets. They can also help with veterinary expenses.
  • Pet Help Finder: This resource connects you to “financially-friendly” services and programs, such as boarding, veterinary care, pet supplies and food assistance, based on your location.
  • Cancer Support Helpline: This helpline provides guidance and support to people with cancer, where you can connect with community navigators or resource specialists to discuss cancer related topics, as well as pet care support.
  • My Cancer Circle: This is an online tool to help you coordinate support with friends and family while you’re managing cancer, which can include pet-related tasks. You can create a community calendar to share important information, post updates, and coordinate tasks such as walking your dog, vet visits, etc.
  • American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA): This resource provides you with questions and actions to consider when leaving your pet in someone else’s care.
  • findhelp.org and 211.org are social networks that can help you find resources available in your community, including pet care.
